January 13: International Skeptics Day

Differences in Thinking

I am proud to be a skeptic. To me that means to doubt, reason, rationalize, and question. So much is put out there as “truth” that I find it necessary to constantly be a skeptic, questioning the validity of the numerous claims and circular reasoning I encounter every day. This doesn’t mean I don’t believe in anything. It means I hold sacred the claim of truth, reserving it for things that have been proven and make logical sense.

Famous skeptics include Isaac Asimov, Richard Dawkins, Richard Feynman, Christopher Hitchens, Harry Houdini, Penn Jillette, Teller, Carl Sagan, Adam Savage, Julia Sweeney, Socrates, Jamie Hyneman, Bill Nye, and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
